OK php Plus was giving me a lot of problems so I've rolled back to simpler version that should be functional if not glitzy. I will try to get a better version up soon. ENTER HERE Live Chat
Chat Room EtiquetteBe respectful to other chatters. If someone is disrespectful to you, please ignore them instead of arguing with them. Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. When entering the room(s), take a few minutes to get a feel for the climate of the room before jumping in. Remember that you are not anonymous, you must be a member of the website in order to use chat. Chat logs are maintained. The chat server keeps files and can identify your IP. They can forward the files to your ISP who can pinpoint the exact address of where the PC he/she was using is located. Address the person by their nickname or handle when chatting. People cannot make eye contact in these rooms so it can get confusing if you are not clear about who you are directing the message to. Use caps only for emphasis. Constant "shouting" can be annoying. Typing in uppercase is classed in the chat community as shouting. Do not reveal your address or any other personal information in a chat room. Users in chat may insult or verbally abuse you. In fact, there are many instances where a user joins chat rooms just to annoy others. While your instinct may be to fireback, try to restrain yourself from doing so. Respect and welcome all newcomers to the chat. Remember, you were once a "newbie". Most importantly, enjoy your time in the chat room and never take things too seriously. Chat etiquette is something we all should use. If you find that members are being offensive/using bad language please report to the admin team, and we will act upon every report. Chat is free and few restrictions are placed on the chat portion of this site as any messages will be deleted after 96 hours automatically, however we will ban users who abuse the system. (The following was the case for PHP PLUS which I no longer have but may yet institute later.) It may take a few moments to load depending on your connection speed. Even broadband will have a moments wait. Just click on the link above to go to the Live Chat if you know what you are doing, if not read on. Chat will pace a cookie on your machine so the next time to enter your info will be available. If you delete the cookie no big deal you just have to login and another cookie will be placed on your next visit. This cookie is harmless and is not a tracking cookie. I cannot see your passwords or other private information. The bots use this in the database so I can manage users. If you do not have cookies enabled you may not be able to login. Also some features require you allow popups to view them. I have put together a short tutorial that will get you started. For more in depth stuff read the tutorial on the login page or the help in the chat room. You must register. This I have set up so that I can more easily boot those who are offensive and so that there are no anonymous lurkers. I have not set it so you have to enter your first and last name. I do not need these but if you decide you want it in your profile... it is up to you. If you are inactive for 60 minutes you get booted and have to login again. The default was 10 but I figured it takes longer than that to go to the restroom sometimes, now you have enough time to have dinner. Read the tutorial on the login page and use the help in the Chat (lower left). You can change color font and limited html like the BOLD ITALIC and UNDERLINE. Click the smiley and get access to 55 more to enter in your chat. Really a nice feature and I like this a lot. Invite people to private or public rooms using the /invite username tag or use the quick menu. See help for more info. The invite link is hard to see but shows with mouseover, just click the invite link to go to the room that invited you. It is a default font color and I do not know how to change it. The code for the Chat is in .php and all I know is HTML. All hyperlinks are hard to see. See help for more options. Most often you will meet someone in a public room and create a private room to discuss things privately, but we use private for extended family discussions, as such you need to know the handle of the person or persons you want to invite. They of course have to be in the chat rooms somewhere to be invited. You do not need to know where, the bots will find them. The /buzz command does not seem to work so will have to do without. You can change your avatar (lower left) remember to hit the change button after editing your profile or avatar. The H next to your name highlights the text box. Useful in keeping who said what straight or seeing some colors of fonts better. Would suggest you not show profile in public rooms and so just do not check the show profile box. Security? Maybe. At the top of the Chat there is a place for a topic. Often we get sidetracked and the topic can either let us know what we are there for or could be ignored. Either way to set topic either type /topic and a space then the topic like: /topic General Chat or you can use the quick menu and scroll to /topic and click on it . It will appear in the send field just type a name for the Topic and enter. You can change topic in the quick guide or type: /topic top reset and then the new topic name. The person who creates the private chat is default as moderator of the room and has the ability to control the room somewhat see help or tutorial for moderator functions. You will hear a click every 20 seconds that can be very annoying, just turn your volume down. This is the interval I've set to refresh the page automatically. You can refresh manually by hitting the round icon to the right of the exit door. I've also set 'quotes' to appear every 15 minutes just as a distraction. Any donations made from the buttons in the Chat or on the sign up page go to Ciprian M. the person who wrote the Plus addition to phpchat. Not to us. I appreciate his add on and his help but if you are thinking of donating to us do not do it in the chat or forums only off the donation page on this site. If you want to give Ciprian something for his Plus addition to chat then hit the donate button in chat. If you want to give something to the php team that made the Chat go to their site and donate to them. We do not support the Chat so if you have a problem you can't solve hit the tutorial, the help, or go to phpchat for their support files. Plus is supported by Ciprian but he lives in Romania and works, so think of the time. Other help can be found at yahoo groups phpchat and php chat support/forums at phpchat If the chat breaks on this end I will be awhile in getting it back up. As I do not know php, I do not support the Chat, I may need to reinstall it and that may take me a while to get to. I have noticed that it will freeze on occasion requiring you to login again which usually solves the problem. Not knowing php I do not know how to fix this or if it will happen to you. Could just as well be a host or ISP problem but think it is the chat itself. I have not imposed any filters and so long as you observe simple net-etiquette I won't. (see above) You are to police yourselves and watch out for each other. I provide the Chat Rooms but have no knowledge of what is said in them unless I am monitoring. Even so the opinions expressed within any Chat, Forum or post is that of the person doing so and not me. Neither I nor any person or entity assume any liability whatsoever of what is said or posted or of any consequence thereof. If you don't agree to this then do not use the services. By using the services you agree that you are at least 18 years of age and agree that any consequence of using these services are born by you. If you do not agree then do not use the services. Now I have no way of knowing age of the person. So I am entrusting you to be honest. I don't mind kids chatting. My daughter and son use it and they are 16 and 13 but I know who they are talking to and I make sure they use private rooms. I just do not want it to come back on me if something happens. There are sites available specifically designed for kids that have monitored Chat Rooms, most are only open when a monitor is available. Of course you have to trust the monitor.... As Parents it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your child. I would suggest you monitor your kids and send them to these 'protected' Chat sites. Of course you have to trust they don't have a pedophile as a moderator. If you let them Chat here I won't be held responsible. Simple as that. If you do I would suggest you monitor them and use private rooms. I do not monitor Chat and have no moderators. Use the Chat as you will. You can talk of anything and I really don't care. But I will act on complaints. I can ban users and will if I get complaints. I will not tolerate any Racial, Sexually Oriented or threatening content and will immediately ban a user for such stuff. I have not set filters so cursing is allow I would appreciate if you kept it to a minimum but understand fully that sometimes it is the best and easiest way to express what your are feeling hence the reason I have not limited this function. Read the full agreement below. If you wish to lodge a complaint I need date, time, user name, what specifically was said and any other info you can provide so as to track the person and ban them. I would like at least one other as witness to whatever the complaint is about. Unless the reason is one I've already stated as one I won't tolerate then a warning is what will most likely be done the first go round. It really depends on what was done. You can bookmark the chat registration page so you do not have to go through this site or this page but you might want to hit this site or page first as content may change. Have fun. ALL these pages are open to the public. As such you agree that you are at least 18 years of age when submitting any posts. That you agree and consent that any pictures you send are open source and that You will not hold me or this site liable for any damages whatsoever. That any contact you make with others through this site are solely your responsibility and you in no way will hold this site or me or any person or entity liable in any way for any damages that might occur by your use of this site and the various posts, chat and forums available. If you do not agree to any of these terms then do not use this site. I cannot force
any to use the forums but I would encourage you to do so if you have
questions you would like answers to or have a statement you would like to
make. I know that having to register and using the anti-spambot code makes
you have to do one more step than most, but it also insures that the
forums are not bombarded by spambots posting crap on the site. I try to
check the forums at least weekly (often daily) and I have to say that so
far I am disappointed that none have chosen to take advantage of this free
opportunity to get and give information. I built this site to help the
disabled get information and the use of the forums and sharing your
stories is a huge part of that endeavor. Please help one another and I
will try to answer what I can as well. We are a community of the disabled
or parents of disabled children and we should do whatever we can to help
each other gain the upper hand or help each other cope with difficult
situations. Just go to the forums page and write down the answer to the
anti-spambot question and enter it on the registration page. You only need
do this once to have full access to the forums. If you have a
site that deals with any disabilities then consider either joining
CPFSN.org (it is totally
free) and having a link to your site on the appropriate page (e.g. State,
County) as well as the ‘Members’ page or doing a simple link exchange
and having your site appear on the ‘CP Family’ links page, if you or
your child has CP or any disability. If you do not
have CP or a child with CP or have a site devoted to any disability you
can still have a reciprocating link placed on the Non-CP related links
page. A link exchange would not only show your support of this site but
would increase your ranking with search through having another outside
link (SEO). Use the ‘Contact Us’ page and email Robert if you are interested in any link exchange or joining CPFSN.org. Send the information of the site you want us to link to and the code you would like entered. I cannot guarantee that all requests will be honored but I will take a personal look and make a fair and unbiased decision.
